TUI Academy UK is a joint initiative between Luton Borough Council, TUI & the TUI Care Foundation

Helping local SMEs grow while supporting local people into work.

Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of Luton’s economy — but it can be challenging to find committed staff while balancing rising employment costs. TUI Academy UK is here to help.

This partnership makes it easier and more affordable for SMEs to take on an apprentice, while giving a motivated local individual the chance to step into work and build a long-term career.

This initiative is a part of the TUI Care Foundation’s global TUI Academy programme, which offers vocational education and career opportunities to young people from vulnerable communities. It builds on the potential of tourism as an established driver of global job growth and combines theoretical education with on-the-job training and life skills coaching.

What Your SME Will Receive

  • 50% wage subsidy for a 9‑month apprenticeship.
  • Fully funded training through the Apprenticeship Levy — no training costs for you.
  • Prepared, motivated candidates who complete a Sector‑Based Work Academy Programme.
  • Ongoing support including coaching, peer support, English/Maths help, and networking opportunities.

Who Are the Apprentices?

  • Local people who are ready for work but face barriers getting started — including:Young people not in education, employment or training (NEET)
  • Long‑term unemployed adults
  • Disabled or neurodiverse individuals
  • People with convictions who are ready for employment

Which SMEs Can Apply?

  • Located in Luton.
  • Able to support an apprentice for 9 months.
  • Provide at least 6 hours of training time per week during working hours.
  • Able to contribute 50% of wages (estimated £8.50/hour).
  • Provide a safe, supportive workplace.
