What is the TUI Sea the Change programme?

TUI Sea the Change puts marine ecosystems at the centre and promotes the protection of oceans and coastal regions. It preserves and restores coral reefs, algae, mangroves and seagrass. It also protects marine animals and ensures the survival of vital ecosystems that are crucial to coastal communities.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? YOU WILL FIND THE ANSWERS HERE

A coral reef star is a six-sided steel structure coated with resin and sand. It provides a stable base for up to 18 small coral fragments, which are carefully attached and grow naturally onto the structure.

Within around six months, the corals begin to firmly attach themselves. After about two years of care and maintenance, the structure is no longer visible, leaving behind a living coral reef that provides shelter for marine life.

Yes – adopting a coral reef star is a meaningful and memorable gift. You can adopt a coral for yourself or for someone special.

During the adoption process, you can enter both your email address and the recipient’s email address. If you’d like to keep it a surprise or share the certificate later, we recommend using your own email address in both fields. That way, all emails come directly to you.

If you choose the Premium adoption option, you’ll receive a follow-up email within a month with photos of your coral reef star planted in Bali. Your coral will also have a name tag with the name you’ve chosen.

If you choose the Premium option, you’ll receive an email within a month from adoptions@tuicarefoundation.com with photos of your planted coral.

Please note that planting is carried out by our local partner, Livingseas Foundation in Bali. We kindly ask for a little patience as they carefully manage planting schedules. We promise it’s worth the wait!

Yes – our local partner warmly welcomes visitors who would like to explore the coral reef star planting area by boat or during a dive.

While we can’t guarantee that you’ll see your exact coral reef star on the day, you’ll be able to visit the general restoration area. For more details, please visit this website.

If you haven’t received your confirmation email within two hours of completing your adoption on our website, please contact us at adoptions@tuicarefoundation.com and we’ll be happy to help.

Please note that adoption certificates are provided for adoptions made directly through the TUI Care Foundation website.

Your coral adoption supports the TUI Care Foundation’s Sea the Change programme. With a Premium adoption, a coral reef star is planted directly in Bali as part of the Sea the Change Bali project.

Together with our partner, Livingseas Foundation, we are restoring damaged coral reefs near Padangbai on Bali’s east coast. The project helps protect marine biodiversity, supports local communities through training and employment, and raises awareness among tourists and tourism businesses about the importance of healthy oceans.

By restoring coral reefs, the programme also helps strengthen natural ecosystems that support marine life and coastal communities.
