Celebrating Success

The TUI Care Foundation wins four awards at WTM Africa

The TUI Care Foundation added four new awards to its growing list of achievements at the WTM Africa Responsible Tourism Awards, held recently in Cape Town, South Africa.

WTM Africa is part of the global World Travel Market events portfolio and brings together industry leaders, innovators and changemakers to showcase trends, forge partnerships and celebrate initiatives that drive responsible, sustainable tourism across Africa and beyond. Its Responsible Tourism Awards recognise organisations that deliver measurable, positive impact for people, places and the planet.

Two Silver Awards for Impact Across Africa and the Middle East
The Foundation secured two Silver Awards for its TUI Colourful Cultures Egypt and TUI Futureshapers North Africa projects.

TUI Colourful Cultures Egypt received the Silver Award in the Cultural Diversity category, recognising its work preserving and celebrating local heritage. The project recently inaugurated the Maaza Colourful Cultures Hub in Hurghada, a community space designed to support and empower the local Bedouin tribe through cultural exchange and economic opportunity.

TUI Futureshapers North Africa earned a Silver Award in the Local Economic Benefit category, with praise for its role in strengthening rural tourism SMEs across Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, and helping small businesses to grow, innovate and access new markets.

Two ‘One to Watch’ Awards for Nature and Regenerative Tourism
The judges also highlighted TUI Turtle Aid Cape Verde and TUI Field to Fork Tanzania as ‘Ones to Watch’, signalling strong potential for future recognition.

TUI Turtle Aid Cape Verde, one of the Foundation’s flagship conservation programmes, received the Nature Positive (One to Watch) Award for its work in protecting more than 1.2 million turtle hatchlings since 2017, and contributing significantly to the survival of endangered loggerhead turtles.

TUI Field to Fork Tanzania was commended in the Regenerative Tourism (One to Watch) category for empowering local women farmers through regenerative agriculture, improving livelihoods while creating direct supply links to the tourism sector.

The Foundation was proudly represented at the ceremony by Ms. Christina du Plessis, Chief Operating Officer of African Travel Concept (ATC), who accepted the awards on its behalf.
