Das zweij\u00e4hrige Projekt TUI Wildlife Rwanda zielt darauf ab, die \u00dcberwachung der Biodiversit\u00e4t zu verbessern und das Engagement von Jugendlichen und Gemeinden f\u00fcr den Naturschutz zu f\u00f6rdern.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Der Volcanoes National Park, Heimat der legend\u00e4ren Berggorillas, ist eines der wichtigsten Naturschutzgebiete Afrikas. Dank jahrzehntelanger Schutzbem\u00fchungen hat die Zahl der Gorillas stetig zugenommen. Doch durch die begrenzte Gr\u00f6\u00dfe des Parks sowie den wachsenden Druck durch menschliche Ausbreitung und den Klimawandel sind dringend neue Naturschutzinstrumente und Partnerschaften erforderlich. Im Rahmen dieser Initiative wird erstmals modernste Umwelt-DNA-Technologie (eDNA) im Park eingesetzt. eDNA erm\u00f6glicht Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern eine pr\u00e4zise Erfassung von Artenvielfalt und \u00d6kosystemgesundheit \u2013 basierend auf Boden- und Wasserproben. Damit wird die Grundlage f\u00fcr intelligentere, datengest\u00fctzte Entscheidungen zum Naturschutz geschaffen. Diese Erkenntnisse werden mit Satellitenbildern und Berichten vor Ort kombiniert, um die zuk\u00fcnftige Planung und Verwaltung des Parks zu optimieren.<\/p>\n<p>Ein zweiter Schwerpunkt des Projekts ist die St\u00e4rkung lokaler Kompetenzen: Die in der N\u00e4he des Parks lebenden Gemeindemitglieder werden geschult und mit den n\u00f6tigen Mitteln ausgestattet, um die \u00dcberwachung der Wildtiere und Lebensr\u00e4ume zu unterst\u00fctzen. Ihre Arbeit wird dazu beitragen, Ver\u00e4nderungen der Artenvielfalt, der Lebensraumqualit\u00e4t und der Interaktionen zwischen Mensch und Tier zu verfolgen. \u00a0Diese Daten werden in eine cloudbasierte Plattform eingespeist, um Artenschutzma\u00dfnahmen in Echtzeit zu erm\u00f6glichen. Auch bei Jugendlichen soll das Projekt Begeisterung f\u00fcr den Naturschutz entfachen. 200 Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fcler aus zehn lokalen Schulen werden an Bildungsbesuchen im Park, Debatten und Schreibwettbewerben teilnehmen. Mit der Universit\u00e4t Ruanda werden junge Fachkr\u00e4fte in der eDNA-Technologie geschult \u2013 als k\u00fcnftige Generation von Naturschutzwissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftlern.<\/p>\n<p>Diese Arbeit wird gemeinsam mit wichtigen nationalen und regionalen Institutionen durchgef\u00fchrt, darunter der Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, das Rwanda Development Board, das Center for Biodiversity der Universit\u00e4t Ruanda und das International Gorilla Conservation Programme. Das Projekt leistet auch einen direkten Beitrag zur nationalen Naturschutzstrategie Ruandas und unterst\u00fctzt die v\u00f6lkerrechtlichen Verpflichtungen im Rahmen des Globalen Biodiversit\u00e4tsrahmens von Kunming-Montreal. Die Partnerschaft baut auf einer erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit zwischen der African Wildlife Foundation und der TUI Care Foundation in der Tsavo-Landschaft in Kenia auf. In beiden Regionen ist das gemeinsame Ziel klar: Investitionen in die lokale Bev\u00f6lkerung, wissenschaftliche Innovation und nachhaltiger Naturschutz, von denen die Natur als auch die Bev\u00f6lkerung vor Ort gleicherma\u00dfen profitieren.<\/p>\n<p>Der \u201eTourism for Development Month\u201d der TUI Care Foundation widmet sich mit vielf\u00e4ltigen Aktivit\u00e4ten gezielt Projekten in den am wenigsten entwickelten L\u00e4ndern. Durch eine Reihe von Projektstarts und Bildungsaktivit\u00e4ten wird die Bedeutung des nachhaltigen Tourismus hervorgehoben, um die Lebensgrundlagen der Gemeinden in den Reisezielen zu verbessern, die Natur zu sch\u00fctzen sowie marktbasierte L\u00f6sungen zum Nutzen der Tourismusdestinationen zu schaffen. Die Projekte werden durch den Tourism for Development Fund der TUI Care Foundation unterst\u00fctzt. Bis 2030 stellt dieser 10 Millionen Euro f\u00fcr die St\u00e4rkung der am wenigsten entwickelten L\u00e4nder bereit \u2013 eine gemeinsame Verpflichtung der TUI Care Foundation und der
